Our committees exist because of parents like you volunteering your time to better the school experience for your student and the whole school. We are very grateful for your participation.

Playground Committee
Members volunteers needed
If interested in this committee, contact us through the PTA meeting, the PTA box located in the school office, or this website
Meets as needed
Purpose To ensure that our playground is a welcoming and comfortable place for both children and caregivers. To assess the need to change any playground equipment. To oversee the spreading of mulch on the grounds every 2 years.
Status May 2006 - inspection and repairs performed on equipment
June 1, 2006 - huge piles of mulch have been delivered; we need a million volunteers to help spread
School Fair Committee

Purpose Organize, oversee, and run the largest single PTA Event of the school year. Fair is schedule for TBD.

Book Fair Committee

Purpose Organize and run annual Book Fair which coincides with Parent/Teacher Conferences
Status The fair was a wonderful success. Book were donated to the school, children purchased books for their homes and over $2000 was raised for the Gibbons PTA.
Winter Marketplace Committee

Purpose To organize and run marketplace held during the school day as well as during evening hours

Back to School Night Committee

Purpose Help organize Back to School Night, introduce families to the PTA and the School.

Sign Committee

Meets As needed . Volunteers work in pairs and are in charge of updating the sign for their assigned month.
Purpose To keep the marquee at the end of the driveway up to date to announce school events and care for the plants in the flower boxes on the sign.

Popcorn Committee

Purpose To provide popcorn as a snack alternative to the students
Status Popcorn is $0.25 per bag and is available on Thursdays. Volunteers should arrive early to pre-pop and bag some popcorn so that students can arrive and pickup their orders.
Parent Child Nights Committee

Spirit Wear Committee

Purpose To supply student body with T-Shirt with School logo for their enjoyment. Additional items with school ensignia include water bottles, silicone bracelets and baseball caps. This is not designed to be a fundraising activity but for school pride.
Status Orders will be accepted intermittently throughout the year.
Gibbons Gazette Committee

Meets The second edition of the Gazette for the 2005-2006 year will be published the week before February vacation. If you are interested in helping copy, collate and count the Gazette for distribution please contact committee chairpersons listed above.
Purpose To publish the students' works of art, poems, stories, and much more
Status In need of volunteers to copy and collate next edition.
Coats for Kids Committee

Purpose To organize the coat drive for families in need in cooperation with Anton Cleaners

Recycle Committee

Purpose To collect and recycle toner cartridges, inkjet cartridges, and cell phones for cash back to Gibbons School PTA
Status This is an ongoing project. Please drop cartridges into box across from main office anytime.
Games Club Committee

Meets As needed usually during lunch
Purpose To provide an alternate structured activity to students during lunch time. Parent volunteers teach and play board games and card games with interested students during recess time.
Status At this time there is no active games club although there is considerable interest. If you are interested in helping organize this program please contact a PTA officer through a PTA meeting, the PTA box in the front office or this website.
Box Tops Committee

Purpose To collect "Box Tops for Education" labels from many General Mills products that can be redeemed for cash for Gibbons School PTA
Status Please drop off your Box Tops for Education in the "Box Tops for Education" container across from the main office.
General Mills is giving away a million box tops divided between new booster club members. Please go to www.boxtops4education.com and register as a Gibbons booster to add to our box tops rewards.
Bottle Drive Committee
Members volunteers needed
Meets Next Bottle/Can drive is TBD
Purpose To arrange bi-monthly bottle and can drives where 100% of proceeds go directly to the Gibbons PTA
Status Please drop off any bottles or can that have a Massachusetts 5 cent deposit label. Plastic and cans can be in bags but glass bottles must be in cardboard containers. No need to count.
Food Pantry Committee

Meets Donated non-perishable food is delivered to the Stoughton Food Pantry Tuesday mornings
Purpose To collect food and other nonperishables for the Stoughton Food Pantry. By donating, Gibbons students learn of the importance of giving to those in need.

Labels for Education Committee

Purpose A fundraiser for the Gibbons School by collecting participating food labels.
Status Ongoing throughout the school year. Please drop off your labels into the Labels for Education container in the front lobby.
